International Admissions Officers are responsible for all aspects of the admissions process for international students undertaking student exchange and study abroad at Australian Universities. They are also involved in promoting their university's programmes and facilities to on- and off-shore audiences. Not only do International Admissions Officers work with foreign students coming to Australia, but they are also responsible for promoting external exchange and exchange scholarships for Australian students. It is also important for International Admissions Officers to develop and maintain relationships with strategic international partners that may include other universities or businesses that have graduate programmes etc.

Roles may include:

  • Maintaining admissions procedures, responding to student enquiries, appropriate follow-up action and consultation with staff
  • Promoting University courses for incoming exchange and study abroad students and developing communication plans for these programmes with partner organisations worldwide
  • Providing advice and support to University staff that are involved in exchange student activities
  • Assisting with the organisation of visits to the University by international visitors
  • Contributing to the development of new strategies designed to attract fee paying study abroad students to the University and to encourage Australian students to undertake exchange study
  • Preparing annual submissions to win external funding sources to support student exchange activities
  • Preparing quantitative and qualitative reports
