IT Security Analyst

IT Security Analysts plan, co-ordinate and implement security measures to protect computer systems from unauthorised access.  This is a critical role, which is responsible for protecting a company’s information.

The tasks of an IT security analyst include:

• performing day-to-day security management activities, including responding to user problems and rectifying faults
• detecting and responding to intrusion or security breaches
• performing security audits and maintaining a systems disaster recovery manual
• co-ordinating contingency planning and testing
• performing maintenance operations such as signature updates and software upgrades
• ensuring all security documentation and procedures meet compliance requirements
• assessing the impact of new technologies on existing or planned systems
