Logistics officers are usually part of a larger team which works to develop and implement logistics solutions for their client or company. This may mean scheduling and streamlining transportation services, making production lines more efficient and cost-effective or designing warehousing systems that provide better results for distributors. The term "officer" usually refers to an entry or mid level employee and as such, this is a good occupation for a graduate with qualifications in logistics who wishes to gain experience and establish themselves within an organisation. Employment opportunities exist within transport services, specialist consultancies, government agencies and a wide variety of organisations within the manufacturing and industrial sectors. It is increasingly common practice for large organisations to run a logistics/supply chain stream within their graduate programs, where recruits are valued for both their specialist knowledge and general, transferable skills which are gained in a Bachelor of Business.
