Player Development Managers work with athletes to develop their professional and personal lives, on and off the field. Off field development assistance may include: designing and administering relocation schemes; transition programs (into and out of the sport or sporting club environment); player mentoring including guidance and counselling, education and training support.
Player Development Managers usually work within sporting organisations such as professional sports clubs, state/national sports associations and institutes of sport. There is no single qualification for this role however a strong background in a sport (at an elite or high level), teacher training or qualifications in psychology are usually required. 

Strong sporting knowledge, strengths in interpersonal and communications skills, the ability to work with a range of people including the ability to engage key stakeholders in this field are necessary personal qualities.
