The title of Project Worker may be used in a wide variety of organisations and associations in many different industries, public, private, and government. Generally a Project Worker is assigned to develop or assist in the ongoing development of a specific project or program an organisation is implementing at any given time. The tasks, type and size of the project will vary in relation to the type and size of the organisation, the community involved, funding, time allocation, and so on.

Project Workers are often involved with support organisations and local councils developing networks and liaising with communities, community organisations, local governments and businesses, develop, manage and sustain projects, events and workshops, raising the profile of the project, recruit and train others involved with the project to enhance its long term future, perform research to develop the basis for the project, and organise resources such as budgets etc.

Project Workers need to be able to work well in a multidiscipline team, understand community development, have good networking, organisation, analytical and written and verbal communication skills, and be able to work to deadline. Focusing your studies on particular specialties will improve your chances in acquiring employment in various industries such as health promotion, nutrition, media liaising, community development, or Indigenous studies. Gaining work experience will also improve employment likelihood.
