Mental Health Clinicians provide psychosocial assessment, intervention and case management to children and families with the purpose of enhancing mental wellness and healthy lifestyles. Mental health clinicians can work within both a hospital setting and in the community, with children and adolescents who present with mental health difficulties. Senior Mental Health Clinicians monitor the delivery of direct clinical services, implement and coordinate the client intake and allocations systems and provide clinical supervision and leadership.

People with undergraduate degree in areas of Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Social Work or Psychology are able to gain employment as Mental Health Clinicians and there are also postgraduate options available for people who have a degree in a different area of study. Roles as a Senior Mental Health Clinician will then require substantial experience and while not always necessary, postgraduate study can be very beneficial.
