Water treatment engineers can work in organisations varying from wastewater treatment plants to pool filtration suppliers to government departments. Water treatment engineers perform a broad range of engineering technical support tasks related to the coordination of the facilities operation, maintenance and modification, the administration of regulatory programs, and the coordination of complex engineering projects.

Major responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring water quality and chemical treatments
  • Water Quality Analysis
  • Ensuring water treatment processes comply with guidelines/legislation
  • Researching and recommending sustainable replacement equipment/enhanced process systems
  • Managing engineering/architectural and construction contractors to ensure adherence to defined scope, specifications, codes and standards, operations plan, change control, schedule and budget, overall business objectives and quality requirements
