Engaging Students in Collaborative Learning

Collaborative Learning

Note: Follow up information for the showcase will be made available online soon. In the meantime, you can view the evaluation results here.

Collaborative learning is a learning and teaching strategy that involves students working as pairs or as a group. There are different forms of collaborative learning, including learning activities that necessitates students working together in small activities during lectures and/or tutorials. These activities can be included or excluded from assessment. However, designing assessment strategies to assess group learning alongside independent learning enhances students’ ability to collaborate rather than compete with each other.

The CTL would like to invite you to a showcase on Engaging Students in Collaborative Learning.

The showcase is an opportunity to exchange best practice and to inspire colleagues to use collaborative learning strategies. The showcase will be held on the 16th June 2010 at the Isabella’s Restaurant between 11.00 am – 1.00 pm. The showcase participants will have the opportunity to exchange best practice in collaborative learning. The showcase includes

  • an interactive demonstration involving students
  • poster presentations and prize for best poster
  • keynote from Associate Professor Grahame Feletti
  • discussion about the challenges of incorporating Collaborative Learning

Details of the activities planned for the showcase are available in the showcase flyer.
