Stakeholder engagement and communication
The University engages with its communities in a number of ways. It promotes participation by staff and students in events such as the national Ride to Work Day and the global Earth Hour event, and provides opportunities for the community to engage in its environmental sustainability activities.
Within the University
University Committee on Environmental Sustainability
The Committee on Environmental Sustainability was established on 30 November 2007 by the University Council for the purpose of investigating and coordinating the University's ongoing action and progress towards environmental sustainability. It provides overall direction in the area of environmental sustainability.
Callaghan Campus Landscape Consultative Group
This group provides a forum for consultation with and feedback from the University community regarding the development, management and maintenance of the natural landscape spaces of the Callaghan campus.
Newcastle University Students Association Enviro Collective
The NUSA Enviro Collective is an initiative of the Newcastle University Students Association (NUSA). Students interested in climate justice, nuclear issues, water rights or anything else environment-related can join the collective.

The University was a founding member of the Together Today initiative, and continues its active involvement.
Affiliations
The University is a signatory to the Talloires Declaration, an international, voluntary ten-point action plan for incorporating sustainability and environmental literacy in University activities. Adherence to the Declaration is underpinned by the University's Environmental Sustainability Plan.
