Flexibility and balance

At the University of Newcastle, we know that going back to study can be a big decision. It's all about getting the balance right. Our degrees are flexible and designed to match your lifestyle and career. You can expand your knowledge and build on your qualifications at your own pace.

You can study online or on-campus - or a combination of both. Our online facilities allow you to access our libraries, submit assignments, use discussion boards, view lecture and tutorial notes, whenever and wherever it suits you.

If you do want to take advantage of our on-campus services there's 24 hour access to computers in our Information Common rooms at our Newcastle, City and Central Coast campuses. Our four libraries are also open seven days and supported by librarians who specialise in postgraduate degree programs.

Study online

The University of Newcastle is one of the leading suppliers of online postgraduate coursework in Australia, providing student-focussed support and online assistance to more than 3,000 students from over 60 countries via GradSchool.

GradSchool delivers more than 400 online courses, 60 postgraduate qualifications and a range of corporate study options.

The University of Newcastle has a range of online resources to assist you in developing the necessary skills to be successful at University.

Study on-campus

If you study on-campus, you'll enjoy access to our full range of on-campus support services, including counselling, careers and employment advice, support for students with a disability, medical services, student loans, and chaplaincy services. Information on all these can be found at www.newcastle.edu.au/service/studentsupport.

For our Indigenous postgraduate students, the Wollotuka School of Aboriginal Studies offers access to a postgraduate resource and computer room. You can also choose from seminars and workshops throughout the year to support you with your studies.

From single subjects to a PhD

You can study a full degree or a single subject (course) in an area of professional interest that could build towards a degree or simply improve your knowledge in a specific area of interest.
